Duel between two big disappointments from two weeks ago. We all know what Roma did against Cluj, while Bordeaux lost game without any resistance at Stamford.

Things are not much better in domestic championships for these teams. Roma started extremely bad season and it looks like the only solution for problems could be Totti. Spaletti managed to weak up team and in last few games at home they won. Away games are big problems for Spaletti, on two matches they concede six goals and took no points. It’s true that matches were hard outings, Genoa and Palermo, but if you want to fight for titles you must bring home at least point against this kind of clubs.

Roma showed last season they have great players and excellent coach, during summer they brought some great names and I thought they are going to challenge Inter more seriously this season. Maybe they would, but injuries and bad form of some players changes everything. Roma is playing constantly without almost half of team because of injuries and that’s why they lost some games surprisingly. Situation is going for better now, but it’s not perfect.

Similar thing is with Bordeaux. Great players, brilliant coach, they brought some excellent players and even more important they keep team from last season, but injuries ruin everything.

Blanc turned around the way the Girondins played last season when he came. From very defensive team, he managed to make second best team in France, behind untouchable Lyon. Bordeaux is playing probably the most beautiful football in France, with Lyon. But, this season started below every expectation. After seven rounds they are already 8 points behind Lyon and draw against St. Etienne in last round showed they are still far away from last season form. They could be lucky with that point because they were one goal down at halftime. They will go for win in this match, but even draw is not the end because Cluj is not a serious contender for second place and they will stay in race for second phase of CL.

Two very similar teams, offensive and with big problems. Attack is main weapon, but recently they are having hard time to score. If I need to pick winner I will choose Bordeaux just because fans and because Blanc knows how to prepare his team for big matches. But, the best option is to go for draw. Two even teams with enough problems will be satisfied not to lose. Cluj will be some points ahead but in matches to come they will prove their class and one of these team will go to second round with Chelsea. For now, they will be happy not to lose in very important match.
